TIME OUT FOR THE MIND: HOW A BULLET JOURNAL SORTS YOUR THOUGHTS

Time sometimes runs away from us, we have deadlines to meet, to-dos that need to be done, different ideas for different projects or memories and things that we would like to record. All this blows up a normal calendar, but still it would be great to record these things in a book.

A PLANNER TO SUIT YOUR TASTE

A Bullet Journal (short: BuJo) fulfills exactly this purpose, it combines memory, planning and ideas in one and is therefore the perfect companion in everyday life. The concept of the BuJo is based on an idea of the designer Ryder Carroll, who was initially looking for a solution for himself personally. In the meantime, a worldwide Planner Community has emerged from it.

Example of a creatively filled bullet journal page

To make your own BuJo, you don't need much material: the most important thing is a blank notebook (most take one in A5) with "dotgrid" grid, a fineliner and a ruler. With our cover made of thick natural leather, your ideas and materials will also be nicely packaged.

These tools are already enough to make the notebook your individual BuJo. The special thing about it is that you can build the whole system of the book as it suits you. Unlike calendars, there are no rigid structures, but you are completely free in the structure and simply use the elements that are practical for you.

YOU DECIDE WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU

How granular you make it is up to you, because it is YOUR book. For example, it can make sense to create a daily overview only if a lot really happens on a day and must be collected. For the other days, the weekly overview may be sufficient, because there is already enough space to record everything.

In addition to the individual overviews, which are not created in advance for the whole year, but always gradually, there are variable elements that can be optionally incorporated. These include trackers. With these you can record habits or progress in individual areas - e.g. for your diet or fitness, or you can use them to record your learning progress in a specific area.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR BULLET JOURNAL

GOODBYE EVERYDAY LIFE, HELLO CREATIVITY

Unlike Ryder Carroll, who sets up his BuJo in a very minimalist way, there are many BuJo users who get creative with their book, using brush pens, washi tape, stickers, stamps, or watercolor.

In addition to the planning aspect, the BuJo thus becomes a creative hobby in which you can immerse yourself in order to relax. The great thing is that it creates a wonderful and individual memento that you can leaf through again and again, almost like a diary.

MATERIAL RECOMMENDATIONS

To protect your BuJo in daily use, you will find the right leather cover. You can either hang your book on one of the elastic bands or use the side flaps as a slot. All accessories, from notebooks and pens to tapes and colors, can be found at our friends at typopoetry. Just tap on the images below.
