On the one hand, because I can't keep up with the game. On the other hand, because not only my accessories should be sustainable, but also the basic idea of how I run my business - even if at first glance it puts me at a disadvantage. But not at second glance. And that is the core of my thoughts.

SHOULD THE FASHION INDUSTRY RADICALLY RETHINK?

To put it simply, fashion companies work like this: a label develops a collection, produces it, takes care of sales, and then it starts all over again. For me, the big problem with this system is the last two points. Because the fashion industry generates waste like hardly any other industry. The question is, what happens to the many pieces that are not sold? The bitter reality is that some of them are destroyed. Burberry has reaped a shitstorm because they have disposed of over 100 million euros worth of goods in the last five years. H&M was caught delivering unsold merchandise to a cogeneration plant to be burned. There are no official figures, of course, nor do major fashion companies want to. France has now become the first country in Europe to react to this and make this practice a punishable offense.

If only out of respect for the material leather, I have personally decided that I do not want to participate in this cycle. Because it devalues the craft of those who practice it. I find it sad when clothes are sold at knock-down prices. Even worse when these goods are then simply thrown away to free up the warehouse.

TURNING A DISADVANTAGE INTO AN ADVANTAGE

I would like to do it basically differently and almost go the opposite way. Only after receiving an order and payment do we sit down at the sewing machine. This saves tons of waste. Storage costs are also eliminated because I only have display pieces in my studio. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to help design an accessory in advance so that it has a custom touch. Most of all, we want to sew a favorite bag for you. A companion that makes your life easier and with which you can experience a lot. Using things for a long time is also sustainable.

Affect purchases are rather rare for us. I love the contact with you, the many inquiries and requests on all channels, even if it means a lot of effort for us. We are happy to send leather samples free of charge in advance. They will help you to make a final decision and to be on the safe side. I think it's incredibly great that you are following this path and are so conscious of our bags and accessories. Besides, it means that we hardly have any returns. To me, that sounds like a win-win-win situation and not a disadvantage.

So before you can hold your new treasure in your hands, I have to ask for some patience. Depending on the order situation, it can take up to 15 days until your package leaves our studio. So you should always plan a certain buffer or write to me personally, because super urgent exceptions are of course always there.

In the end, your patience will be rewarded with a unique piece that won't exist a second time. Maybe even a future favorite piece.
